SGU university lacks facilities

picture-048.jpgpicture-048.jpgA Muslim family has decided to join a demonstration against an anti Islam Fitna film held on Wednesday before the compound of the Netherlands embassy in Jakarta. The film was launched by its producer, Greet Wilders, a Dutch lawmaker on March 27. Some Koran verses were quoted by the film along with, among other things, the terrorist act in the U.S back in 2001 and a punishment against a gay lover.

The protesters demanded the Dutch government ban the film and Wilders apologize to Muslims for inciting hatred.

The reasons behind the demonstration were the film did not portray the true face of Islam which taught peace, it failed to elaborate that terror act could be committed by anyone from any religions, and the Dutch government did not do enough effort to prevent the film from being published on the Internet.

“We want to show to the world that someone could not just produce a film that incited hatred against Islam. We, Muslims, held the protest peacefully to prove that the film, which stated Islam teaches violence, was wrong,” Muhammad Basri, a protester, said.

The Netherlands embassy in Jakarta released a statement, saying that they respected the protest. It emphasized Wilder’s Fitna was not part of the Dutch policy on Islam.

The Dutch government has said its prosecutors would investigate whether the film caused violence once the film was available to the public.
